Everyone talks about a minimum "wage" but what about other aspects of the remuneration package - eg housing, pension, medical etc. Are they not taken into account? And is it before or after PAYE and UIF??   -   Chillies Mfeka

Paye doesn't come into it, because at that level of pay no Paye applies: I understand that the minimum wage includes the 1% employe contribution to UIF - ie the employee will get R20 per hour less 1 % for UIF

The NMW is going to prejudice employers who provide other benefits eg housing in the agricultural sector. All they will now do is raise the wage and then deduct rent?
